Healthy Cooking Instructor

Hours: Shifts are available between 8am – 4pm, Monday – Friday with more hours during the school year.

Position Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to create, instruct, and conduct safe and effective healthy cooking and/or wellness education classes and programming. This includes shopping for supplies for each class, creating recipe handouts for each class, and providing accurate nutrition information and tips to class participants.

Education, Experience, & Skills (Minimum Requirement):
One year experience teaching wellness education related courses preferred.

Licensure/Certification Requirement(s):

  • First Aid and CPR certification required upon hire or obtained within three (3) months of hire.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrates ability to effectively teach wellness related or healthy cooking courses in a fun and creative way that engages the participants. Adjusts instructions to the appropriate age and mix of participants.
  • Shops for supplies, creates a class plan and recipe handout, and provides accurate nutrition information for each program or event.
  • Assists with kitchen inventory tracking and keeping kitchen supplies stocked.
  • Keeps equipment clean, repaired and functional, informing supervisor of maintenance needs immediately.
  • Promotes all aspects and benefits of the facility in a positive manner and by example.
  • Be able to provide own transportation to on and off site classes.

This position is classified as a Category III position under OSHA guidelines with no risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials.
