Youth Activity Staff

Day, Evening and Weekend hours available.

Reports To: Youth Activity Coordinator and Healthy Cooking Coordinator

Position Purpose:
This position is responsible for providing outstanding member service through implementing youth activities, special events, and supervising fitness center rules and safety enforcement. Activities can include: leading youth classes, birthday parties, gym supervision, healthy cooking class support, and supervising special events and leagues.

Education, Experience, & Skills (Minimum Requirement):
High School Diploma or GED required. Preferred skills include: working knowledge of fitness equipment, basic understanding of safety procedures, excellent customer service skills, professional communication and the ability to work effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions.

Licensure/Certification Requirement(s):

  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification required upon hire or obtained within three (3) months of hire.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

  • Greets all members and youth participants in a professional manner as they arrive for wellness activities.
  • Promotes all aspects and benefits of the facility in a positive manner and by example.
  • Communicates with youth in a friendly and positive manner at all times.
  • Is knowledgeable of youth programs and teaches class concepts in each session. Research may be necessary.
  • Is available to ensure safety in youth activities and events. Tasks would include, but are not limited to, child check-in/check-out, parent/guardian communication, etc.
  • Keeps activity area organized and clean and completes cleaning tasks as assigned for each session.
  • Keeps equipment repaired and functional, informing supervisor of maintenance needs.
  • Monitors youth and event participants to create positive interactions and a fun environment for activities.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    *Some of these events may take place off-site. Must be able to provide own transportation to those sites.

While performing the duties of this job, this employee is frequently required to use fine motor skills to operate a computer, keyboard, and mouse, and must sit, stand, walk, and kneel. Must be able to speak, hear, and understand the English language. This employee occasionally is required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

BLOOD EXPOSURE
This position has a low risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials. Training is required upon hire and maintained yearly.
